product details
AD603 is a low noise, voltage controlled amplifier for RF and if AGC systems. It provides precise pin selectable gain from − 11 DB to + 31 dB at 90 MHz and + 9 dB to + 51 dB at 9 MHz. Any intermediate gain range can be obtained with an external resistor. The input noise spectrum density is only 1.3 NV / √ Hz, and the power consumption is 125 MW with the recommended ± 5 V power supply.
The gain is linear in dB, calibrated precisely and does not vary with temperature and supply voltage. The gain is controlled by a high impedance (50 m Ω), low bias (200 Na) differential input; the scale factor is 25 MV / DB, so only 1 V gain control voltage is required to cover the middle 40 dB of the gain range. Regardless of the range selected, it provides 1 dB over range and under range. For 40 dB variation, the response time of gain control is less than 1 μ s.
Differential gain control interface allows differential or single ended positive or negative control voltages. Several of these amplifiers can be cascaded together to control the gain bias to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the system.
AD603 can drive load impedance as low as 100 Ω with low distortion. For 500 Ω load with 5 pf shunt, the total harmonic distortion of ± 1 V sinusoidal output is usually − 60 DBC at 10 MHz. The peak rated output into 500 Ω load is ± 2.5 V (minimum).
The AD603 uses a proprietary patented circuit structure x-amp. The x-amp contains a 0 dB to - 42.14 DB variable attenuator, followed by a fixed gain amplifier. Because of the existence of attenuators, amplifiers never have to deal with large inputs, and their (fixed) gain and dynamic performance can be defined by negative feedback. The attenuator has a 100 Ω input resistance adjusted to ± 3% by laser and contains a 7-Stage R-2R ladder network, which makes the attenuation between contacts 6.021 dB. Using proprietary interpolation technology, linear continuous gain control function in DB can be provided.
The operating temperature range of AD603 is − 40 ° C to + 85 ° C.
