The Ameritron
AL-80A covers the
Amateur Radio
bands 160 through 15 meters (10 meters with a modification). It also features wide frequency coverage for MARS and other services authorized to operate at high power. The AL-80A uses an Eimac 3-500Z high-mu triode in a class AB, grounded grid circuit. Power output is
850 watts CW, 1000 watts SSB with 65 watts of drive.
The
AL-80A is factory
wired for 117V, 50/60 Hz, primary line voltage but it can be easily converted to 234V with a simple jumper change on a terminal block.
Background:
I am selling this item for a widow of a silent key and friend who recently passed away in June of 2021. He was an Electrical Engineer for a company that manufactured Broadcast Television VHF & UHF Transmitters where I worked with him for many years.
This item is located in his den along with the rest of his impressive station. He took very good care of his equipment and he used it up until the time that he passed away. I haven't had the opportunity to test each item, so it is being sold "
AS-IS
". I performed a quick inventory of each item and took at least (1) photograph of each item. If I had the finances and space, I would have purchased many of the items in his collection.
Given the size and weight of this item (60 lbs.) and to prevent damage during shipping, we are selling it for local pickup only.
We will provide a copy of the instruction manual in a 3-ring binder but we'll be more than happy to provide the original manual should we find it before pickup.
