The AD8304 is a single-chip logarithmic detector optimized for low-frequency signal power measurements in fiber optic systems. It uses advanced trans-wire technology to provide a wide range of dynamics that are versatile and easy to use. With proprietary design techniques and precision laser trimming, the device also offers a wide measurement range and high accuracy. In most applications, only a single +5 V VP is required, but a 3.0 V to 5.5 V supply is also available; an additional negative supply VN is beneficial for some applications. When using a low supply voltage, the log slope can be easily changed to suit the available range. Low quiescent current and chip disable features are beneficial for battery-powered applications.
The AD8304 is available in a 14-lead TSSOP package and is specified over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range.
