Description:
Obtained this linear amplifier at a SK Estate sale along with three other Mirage linear amplifiers (these three tested functional)
Performed visual inspection - internal coax line from the Radio input SO-239 was not connected (see photographs); unit has original capacitors and components; no other visible issues
I initially solder tacked the coax line back to the connector and proceeded to test
unit powers on
pre-amp switches on/off
Key input functional, can hear the relay click when the radio PTT was engaged
ran 1W input - TX light illuminated, no measurable output and SWR Overload protection engaged
Checked at the SO-239, the center conductor was shorted to the outer conductor
disconnected internal coax line from rear panel connector
measured between the coax inner and outer conductor, short still present
No further testing or examination was performed
