Description
**RARE** Drake L-4B Linear Amplifier [ RE-CAPPED & TESTED ].Purchased from a S/K Estate and then re-capped and fixed up and tested by Amateur Radio Operator Bill at Clairmont Skyland Radio and TV services in Gainesville, GA.
The Drake L-4B amplifier was designed and constructed in the 1960s as a two piece unit -- amplifier and high voltage power supply. It has an attractive two-tone gray with silver edging around the front panel, and black color on the remainder of the case.
It operates on 10, 15, 20, 40 and 80 meter bands.
The maximum power output is 2000W PEP SSB and 1000W CW. Note that the FCC typically limits to 1500W PEP SSB in the U.S.
The amplifier will work on either 110VAC or 220VAC with changing the proper jumpers under the chassis.
If you go to the eham website, you will see this amplifier has an overall average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars with 27 total reviews.
I do not really want to sell this. It is hard enough to acquire an affordable ham radio amp. New solid state amplifiers go for ,000 and up, so me finding this was pretty lucky. The reason I'm selling is to finance a down payment for a piece of property where I can finally build a home for my family and also put up a tower.
